The Tax Consultant will report to the Irish Head of Tax, BNP Paribas. The role will provide both tax compliance and tax advisory support to the business across all of the Irish business lines and entities, which includes Corporate & Institutional Banking, Fund Administration, Custodial Services, and Supply Chain Management.
• Taking full ownership of end-to-end VAT process in respect of outsourced and insourced services, ensuring the correct application of VAT on services to VAT group and non-VAT group members, and working with relevant stakeholders to ensure that all invoicing requirements are met;
• Preparing and filing Irish VAT returns and EVR claims;
• Liaising with external advisors to ensure timely filing of foreign VAT returns;
• Management of VAT receivables, both with internal stakeholders and, where necessary, engaging with the relevant tax authorities or external tax advisors
• Management of Irish Corporation Tax and Preliminary Tax obligations, with the support of external advisors;
• Providing tax input into month end/quarter end process with respect to current tax and deferred tax provisioning;
• Tax account reconciliations at month end/year end;
• Management of Corporation tax receivables
• Managing and Filing of AEOI returns (including FATCA and CRS);
• Managing tax obligations in respect of DIRT, IUT, Encashment Tax, DWT, Third Party information returns, Stamp Duty, Bank Levy etc.
Monitoring legislative change and advising business of new tax obligations, or amendments to existing requirements, as well as working with the business to ensure accurate and timely implementation of such changes.
Manage Tax aspects of the new transactions, including, where necessary, ensuring foreign VAT and other tax registrations are in place. Identify potential withholding tax concerns in foreign jurisdictions.
Providing support to the Finance team with regards to intercompany transactions, Service Level Agreements, and Transfer Pricing considerations.
Provide day to day support across all tax heads to the Business, Finance, HR and Legal teams, as well as Group Tax and Group Transfer Pricing teams
Assist in the implementation of ad-hoc tax projects
Provide support for internal and external audits
Engage with External advisors, tax authorities and industry representative bodies, as required.
Qualifications & Experience required for this role:
The required candidate should have the following attributes.
Minimum 5 to 6 years’ experience in a tax environment, preferably with Financial Services experience
Qualified Accountant and/or Chartered Tax Advisor
While VAT experience is advantageous, it is not essential
The candidate should be a highly competent self-starter, with good project management skills, who is capable of working on his/her own initiative. The candidate should also have strong time-management skills and be capable of managing workload to competing deadlines. He/she should be a strong team player, capable of building relationships across multiple business units. Good communication skills will be important in order to ensure complex tax matters can be disseminated to non-tax professionals in a clear manner.
